<\/p>\nIm Abstiegskampf der Premier Division gab es an diesem Wochenende ein direktes Duell zwischen den bis dahin auf Platz 11 und 12 liegenden Teams von Galway United und Drogheda United. \u00dcberraschend deutlich war da das Ergebnis: Galway gewann mit 4:1, drei der Tore gingen dabei aufs Konto des fr\u00fcheren (2013-14) Drogheda-Spielers Gavan Holohan. Da St. Patrick’s Athletic, vor dem Spieltag auf Platz 10, ebenfalls gewann (gegen Bray) und Sligo in Limerick einen Punkt holte, droht Drogheda nun den Anschluss an die anderen Teams im Abstiegskampf zu verlieren. Noch sind es nur ein paar Punkte und eine miserable Tordifferenz, aber eine 1:4-Niederlage gegen einen Mitkonkurrenten ist nicht gerade etwas, das in Drogheda Optimismus f\u00f6rdern k\u00f6nnte.
\nIm Duell der gerade aus den europ\u00e4ischen Wettbewerben ausgeschiedenen Teams gewann Shamrock Rovers in Dundalk mit 1:0 und r\u00fcckt damit auf Platz 3 vor. Cork Citys Partie bei Finn Harps wurde auf den 21.08. verlegt.<\/p>\n

Waterford hat derweil einen gro\u00dfen Schritt in Richtung Aufstieg gemacht und Verfolger Cobh Ramblers im Topspiel der First Division klar mit 4:0 geschlagen. Sowohl Cobh als auch UCD (4:0-Sieger gegen Athlone) liegen nun 9 Punkte hinter Waterford, bei noch 7 Spieltagen in der First Division. Rechnerisch haben Longford, Cabinteely und Shelbourne zwar auch noch Chancen, die sind aber minimal. Da geht es eher nur noch um Platzierungen.<\/p>\n
