Bis zur 80. Minute blieb die Partie torlos, dann erzielte Adrian Delap den F\u00fchrungstreffer f\u00fcr Derry. Weit in der Nachspielzeit (90.+5) bekam St. Patrick&#8217;s Athletic dann einen Foulelfmeter zugesprochen, der, falls verwandelt, den Ausgleich und damit die Verl\u00e4ngerung bedeutet h\u00e4tte. Doch Derrys Torh\u00fcter Gerard Doherty parierte den Strafsto\u00df und sicherte seinem Team so den Einzug ins Viertelfinale.<\/p>\n<p>Knapp ging es auch beim Spiel zwischen dem Non-League-Team CIE Ranch und UCD zu. CIE Ranch war etwas \u00fcberraschend durch zwei fr\u00fche Tore mit 2:0 in F\u00fchrung gegangen. UCD erzielte zwar noch in der ersten Halbzeit den Anschlusstreffer, lief aber weiterhin dem R\u00fcckstand hinterher. In der 74. Minute verlor CIE Ranch einen Spieler durch einen Platzverweis, aber trotzdem dauerte es bis zur 89. Minute, bevor UCD zum 2:2 ausgleichen und sich damit in die Verl\u00e4ngerung retten konnte. Die Verl\u00e4ngerung wurde dann allerdings eine klare Angelegenheit, so dass UCD am Ende mit einem 6:2 nach Verl\u00e4ngerung weiterkam.<\/p>\n<p>Weniger M\u00fche hatten unter Anderem die Topfavoriten aus Dundalk und Cork, die jeweils in ihren Heimspielen nichts anbrennen lie\u00dfen.
