Und auch wenn das Ergebnis das gleiche war wie am Samstag gegen Gibraltar (1:0 f\u00fcr Irland), war das Spiel doch deutlich besser. Insbesondere in der ersten Halbzeit war Irland das dominante Team, erarbeitete sich Chancen und lie\u00df Georgien kaum ins Spiel kommen. Der Treffer des Abends fiel nach einem Freisto\u00df aus zentraler Position. David McGoldrick war zuvor zu Fall gebracht worden, als er gegen zwei Verteidiger fast durch war. Conor Hourihane zirkelte den Ball mit einem sch\u00f6nen Freisto\u00df um die Mauer herum ins Tor.<br>In der zweiten H\u00e4lfte war Irland nicht mehr so dominant, hatte aber trotzdem noch einige klare Chancen auf einen weiteren Treffer und h\u00e4tte das Spiel eigentlich zeitig entscheiden k\u00f6nnen. Da es keinen weiteren Treffer f\u00fcr die Iren gab, wurde die Schlussphase noch etwas nerv\u00f6s, aber am Ende gewann Irland verdient mit 1:0.<br>Im anderen Spiel der Qualifikationsgruppe trennten sich die Schweiz und D\u00e4nemark 3:3 unentschieden.
